Huawei CEO Spotted with an iPad at Airport Security

Huawei CEO, Ren Zhengfai seems to be an Apple fan. The CEO was spotted carrying and handing over an iPad at airport security. As expected the photos are doing rounds on social media.

The photos were taken whilst Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei was submitting an iPad for examination at an airport. Huawei is one of the biggest rivals of Apple. That being said, the CEO has hinted at his fondness for Apple devices. He also admitted to Chinese media that his children prefer Apple products over Huawei. Moreover, Ren says that he buys iPhones for his family members when he is abroad. Thats not all, he has also praised Apple as “the world’s leading company” and added, “Apple is my teacher.”

Earlier this year, Huawei had punished its employees for tweeting from an iPhone. Both the employees not only took a cut on their salary but were also demoted. We are not sure if Ren Zhengfai will face a similar fate. On the other hand, it might be a strategic move to connect with people by expressing their likingness for Apple products.

Lately, the sentiment of Chinese consumers seems to be different from that of Ren. Chinese issued calls to boycott Apple products in China last year. The boycott was in response to US blacklisting Huawei from purchasing American technology.
Our Take

Brand ambassadors, employees and company executives have been caught using devices from rival companies. That being said, company executives often use products from competitors. For instance, Steve Jobs was once spotted using IBM ThinkPad while working on a keynote presentation.

Do you think CEOs and company executives should refrain from using competitors’ products in public? Let us know what you think in the comments below. Also Read:Download & Save YouTube Videos to iPhone/iPad

iPhone 11 Launch Helped Increase Apple’s Market Share in Europ

The iPhone 11 series has been doing very well for Apple and the latest data from Kantar further corroborates that. In its report, Kantar says that just after a week of going on sale, the iPhone 11 series accounted for 7.4% of the total iPhone sales in Q3 2019 — that’s up from the 6.6% contribution made by the iPhone XS series when it launched in Q3 2018.

The iPhone 11 is the highest-selling model, though the iPhone 11 Pro series is also doing well and not far behind. In the United States, the iPhone 11 captured 10.2% of the total iPhone sales in Q3 2019 which is notably higher than last year.

The launch of the iPhone 11 also helped in increasing the iOS market share in the five major European markets to 18.9%, though in the United States, iOS market share fell by 2%.

Apple also saw its market share decline in China by 1.3%, with Chinese OEMs accounting for 79.3% of the total smartphone sales in the region. The market was dominated by Huawei and Honor which combined to account for 46.8% of the total sales. The launch of the new iPhones also saw its market share increase in Australia and Japan. Also Read:Drinking Game apps

Also Read:Best time to buy an iPhone

Apart from Apple, Samsung also saw its market share in Europe surge by 5.9% to 38.4% thanks to the strong sales of its new Galaxy A smartphones. It was also the fastest growing brand in the region.

It is interesting to note that the data is for Q3 2019 and the iPhone 11 series went on sale towards the end of September. So whatever changes we see in the market share were caused by the new iPhones being on sale for only around a week. I doubt any other smartphone will have such a major impact on market share and user base within just a few days of going on sale.

New EufyCam 2 Arrives with HomeKit Support, Free DVR Storage, 1-Year Battery Life

Anker has finally released a new security camera lineup that supports Apple’s HomeKit. The company had announced HomeKit partnership at WWDC in June this year. EufyCam 2 setup consists of two security cameras and a hub. The Eufycam 2 is priced at $349 and is rated to offer one year of battery life.

The security cameras support 1080p video and also offer features like “smart” image enhancement, secure local storage and human detection. You will also get a loud 100dB intruder alarm. On the storage front, EufyCam 2 arrives with DVR functionality which allows you to store videos locally via microSD card slot. Typically, security cameras offer cloud storage and charge for the same. It is worth noting that HomeKit support on EufyCam 2 will be available later in 2019.

Apart from HomeKit, EufyCam 2 also supports Google Assistant and Alexa. The latest security camera setup is expected to go on sale at Best Buy next month.

Anker has also announced Eufy Security Smart Lock. It comes equipped with a touchpad and a “bank-grade” security. The rated battery life on a full charge is one year while the IP65 ensures that it can withstand harsh weather. The Eufy Security Smart Lock will unlock in 0.3 seconds via fingerprint detection. Furthermore, the security smart lock supports Alexa and Google Assistant, however, it doesn’t support HomeKit.Also Read:YTD YouTube Video Downloader Alternative

HomeKit is Apple’s smart home platform that lets you control all your smart devices in a single place. Instead of using separate apps for every device you can simply control the supported devices via the HomeKit app. In other words, HomeKit is a framework that brings together many devices via scenes or customizable automation.

iPadOS 13: How to Open Links in New Window in Safari on iPad

In iPadOS 13, you can now run multiple instances of the same app. This means you can have two windows of Safari browser open side-by-side. It’s finally easy to work with multiple browser windows on the iPad. Here’s how you can create a new window from a link in Safari on iPad.
Open Links in New Window in Safari on iPad

There are a couple of ways to use iPadOS 13’s new multiple-instances feature. You can manually drag the app icon to the edge of a screen to open a new window. Or you can drag a section of an app to open it in a new window. This works with a note in the Notes app, a mail in the Mail app and so on.

It’s this method that will help you create a new window in Safari using a link. Here’s how it works.

Step 1: Open a website in the Safari app and make sure you’re in the landscape mode.

Step 2: Find a link you want to use in the new window. Tap and hold on it and move your finger. You’ll see that a popup with the link will move with your finger. Also Read:kickass proxy

Step 3: Now, take your finger to the right edge of the screen until you see a black bar and translucent box appear.

Step 4: Lift your finger here and a new Safari window with the link will open. You can also open a link in the full-screen window by taking the link to the top of the screen and dropping it there.

If you want to get rid of the new window that you’ve just opened, grab the handlebar in the middle of the two apps and swipe right.

And that’s how easy it is to open a link from Safari in a new window on iPad on iPadOS 13.
What Do You Think of iPadOS 13?

2019 iPad Pro Could Feature Triple-Camera System

Citing a supplier out of China, Apple will be introducing a triple-camera system to the iPad Pro lineup this year. This is the first time that we are hearing reports of the 2019 iPad Pro featuring a triple-camera system.

The iPad Pro currently only houses a single 12MP shooter at the rear. So, it would be an odd move from Apple to jump directly to a triple-camera system on the 2019 models. Plus, the inclusion of a telephoto sensor on the iPad won’t really make much of a sense since it would be of hardly any use.

It is possible that Apple could add a depth sensor and a ToF sensor to the iPad Pro to help improve AR-related features. After all, the company is rumored to add a ToF sensor to its 2020 iPhones.

The report also states that the upcoming 10.2-inch iPad could ship with a dual-camera setup. Again, this is the first time we are hearing this and while Macotakata has a good track record when it comes to Apple rumors, it is better to take this one with a pinch of salt.

There have not really been many leaks surrounding the 2019 iPad Pro. The lineup received a major design overhaul last year so this year improvements are likely only going to be internal in nature. We will probably see Apple unveil the 2019 iPad Pro alongside the 10.2-inch iPad in October. If you lost data after you updated to a new iPhone, you can always use Gihosoft iPhone Data Recovery to get the data back from the old iPhone or backup. You may also like: iphonerecovery.com

WhatsApp Backup Stuck on Android? Find All Solutions Here

My automatic WhatsApp backup has been getting stuck at 99%. I’ve set up the backup to happen automatically every day and for the last 5 days; Google Drive has failed to complete the backup process. I have tried everything including restarting the device and switching Wi-Fi networks but nothing works. Does anyone know how I can fix this issue?”

We recently received this question from one of our users who was frustrated at a WhatsApp Google Drive backup that keeps failing. While this problem may not be very common, it can happen and when it does, most people worry that they may never be able to back up their data. In this article, we address this issue and provide you with workable solutions that may be helpful.
1. Suggestions from WhatsApp

WhatsApp seems to think that there could be a problem with the way that you have configured your Google Drive account. They suggest checking the following if you are unable to back up your WhatsApp chats to Google Drive;

Check that you have a Google account added to your phone and that the Google account is activated.

You must also verify that Google Play services is installed on your device and that it is up to date. Please note that Google Play services is only available on Android 2.3.4 or higher so if your device is running anything lower, you may need to update it first.

Also, this may be a connectivity issue. So, if you are trying to back up over a cellular network, ensure that you have sufficient data to support both Google Play Services and WhatsApp. You can also try to back up on a different network.

2. Suggestions from Reddit Discussions

Reddit users may have better suggestions, including the following;

Option #1. Force Stop WhatsApp

Try force stopping WhatsApp. To do this on your Android device, tap on Settings > Apps > Open the Apps List > Select WhatsApp and then tap on “Force Stop”. Now open WhatsApp again and then attempt the backup.

Option #2. Switch to WhatsApp Beta

You can also choose to switch to the WhatsApp Beta option that will provide you with a much more updated version of WhatsApp that you can use to create the backup. But most Beta testing versions of any app can be unstable and may cause more problems.

Join the WhatsApp beta program: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.whatsapp/join

3. Suggestions from Android Central Discussions

Android Central Forum users have presented two suggestions to help you out of this problem;

Option #1. Basic Troubleshooting

They suggest going to Settings > Apps > Select WhatsApp > Force Stop > Storage > Clear Cache and then restart the phone before you try to backup WhatsApp again.

Option #2. Try a Different Google Drive Account

Users on Android Central also recommend trying to use a different Google account. If you don’t have one, create a new Google account and then add it to your device and change the backup settings in WhatsApp. Try backing up to this new account to see if the process works.

4. Suggestions from Us

If all the above suggestions fail to work, we suggest you consider a backup of your WhatsApp messages to computer. It is very likely that the problem could be with Google Drive and not your device and you don’t want to lose your WhatsApp chats only to have no backup to restore the device. But most people have a bad experience trying to move data between their Android device and PC. The process almost never works unless you can use a third-party tool that will allow you to easily create a backup of WhatsApp on your computer. iMyFone iTransor, a backup tool that we developed which can help you create a backup of all WhatsApp data very easily and restore the same data to your device later when you need it. It also has features that make it easy for you to transfer WhatsApp data between devices even if you want to transfer between Android to iPhone.

To use iTransor to create a WhatsApp backup on your PC, follow these simple steps;

How the 'Find My' App in iOS 13 and macOS Catalina Works

Apple at WWDC unveiled a new "Find My" app, which is available across its Mac and iOS platforms. Find My on iOS replaces Find My Friends and Find My iPhone, and on Mac, it introduces a native "Find" app for the first time as an alternative to using iCloud on the web.

Find My has a useful feature that's designed to let you locate your lost devices even when they're not connected to WiFi or a cellular network by leveraging nearby Bluetooth devices. Your lost iPhone, iPad, or Mac will be able to communicate via Bluetooth with any nearby Apple device, relaying its location right back to you.

Apple described the feature on stage on Monday, but today provided additional details to WIRED for those interested in an overview of just how it works.

Apple designed the Find My feature with privacy in mind. It uses an encryption system that prevents people from abusing it for tracking purposes, making your personal location unavailable to people aiming to intercept your device's Bluetooth signal and from Apple itself.

Apple's encryption solution requires "Find My" users to have at least two Apple devices. As relayed by Apple to WIRED, each device emits a constantly changing public key that nearby Apple devices use to encrypt and upload your geolocation data. Only other Apple devices that you own (and that are linked to your Apple ID and protected with two-step authentication) are able to decrypt those locations.

Because only your own devices can decrypt the encrypted location signal that's being sent from a lost device, no one, not even Apple, can intercept it and locate you or your devices.

Apple says that "Find My" uses just tiny bits of data piggybacked on existing network traffic so there's no impact on device battery life, data usage, or privacy. WIRED has a specific set of steps on how Find My works, from setup to what happens when a device is lost, which is worth checking out for those interested.

Basically, when a device you own goes missing, it's going to broadcast the aforementioned public key, which can be picked up by any other Apple device owned by anyone.

Say someone steals your MacBook. Even if the thief carries it around closed and disconnected from the internet, your laptop will emit its rotating public key via Bluetooth. A nearby stranger's iPhone, with no interaction from its owner, will pick up the signal, check its own location, and encrypt that location data using the public key it picked up from the laptop. The public key doesn't contain any identifying information, and since it frequently rotates, the stranger's iPhone can't link the laptop to its prior locations either.

The stranger's iPhone then uploads two things to Apple's server: The encrypted location, and a hash of the laptop's public key, which will serve as an identifier. Since Apple doesn't have the private key, it can't decrypt the location.

The Find My app is available in iOS 13, iPadOS, and macOS Catalina right now, but it's not going to be a fully functional system until these software updates are installed on millions of devices around the world. Also Read:Free Online Movie Streaming Sites in 2019

Reason Apple Didn’t Buy Tesla in 2013 Was Because They Couln’t Fire Musk

We recently covered the old 2013 deal between Tesla and Apple, where the latter would have acquired all assets of the former. That, obviously, didn’t happen but we finally have an answer to why. It’s because of Elon Musk.

Elon Musk is a controversial character. He is the CEO and Chairman of both SpaceX and Tesla, as well as being a gigantic internet meme thanks to his appearances in things like Joe Regan’s show, where he smoked cannabis in front of the camera, as well as PewDiePie’s Meme Review.

And that personality could have been what ended up on a no-deal between Tesla and Apple. Craig Irwin, an analyst at Roth Capital Partners, has commented on the matter:

“Regarding the acquisition, my understanding is Apple wanted Elon Musk to step away, and that was a deal killer,”

Apple isn’t known for letting companies manage themselves after acquiring them. They mostly become just another brand for what’s actually an Apple product underneath (like Beats), or get entirely absorbed by the previously trillion dollar company.

Apple hasn’t commented on the matter, and we don’t expect them to. But we have reached out for comment.

What are your thoughts? Should Elon Musk have stepped down and let Apple buyout the company? Let us know in the comments below.Weiterlesen auoklicker

Informant 5: The Calendar App to Rule Them All

Apple is pretty good about updating its products, but it seems to have forgotten about the Calendar app. The makers of Informant 5 remember, and the latest update to this calendar and task-management app are a productivity game changer. Unlike Apple's Calendar, Informant 5 is updated regularly with improvements based on customer feedback. Just check out the newest feature; the Time Picker.

In previous updates, users entered their event times using a wheel with dials. The newest update replaces the wheels with a numerical keypad. It is small tweaks like this, changes that improve efficiency and the customer experience, that make Informant a stand-out calendar app. The update also improves how you set your date; the year changes automatically when you scroll past December so that you don't accidentally schedule an event for last January. The creators behind Informant are responsive to feedback and care about making their calendar app not just better than Apple's, but also the best calendar software on the market.

Some of our readers certainly agree that Informant is the best. Here's just some of the feedback we've gotten from users:

"I love the app so much that I got it for my Mac as well. Best money spent." — Dena Gann

"Informant 5 is the best calendar app." — Eugene McCain

"I recently got the Informant 5 app. I love it. I heard about it on the iPhone Life Podcast." — Steve Spencer

Once you've experienced Informant for yourself, you'll never want to go back to the default calendar app. You can see what all the hype is about when you sign up for a free iOS trial.

How to Enhance Siri Requests in iOS By Adding Your Personal Contact Details

If you add your personal contact information to your iPhone or iPad, it allows Siri to carry out more complex queries and offer better suggestions, such as giving you directions home or reminding you about your scheduled meeting when you arrive at the office.

For best results, you need to make sure your self-identifying contact card – called My Card in the Contacts app – includes sufficient information about you. Your iPhone or iPad should use your Apple ID to create your contact card, but you may need to provide additional details like your name and address to complete it.

To do so, open the Contacts app on your device and tap My Card at the top of your contacts list, then tap Edit and enter your information – you can insert additional fields as desired using the plus buttons. If you don't see My Card, tap the Add button and enter your info, then return to your device's Home screen and follow the steps below.

Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

Scroll down and tap Contacts.

Tap My Info.

Select your name in the contacts list that appears.

Next, tap Siri & Search.

Make sure the toggle next to Siri & Suggestions is in the green ON position.

If you like, you can enable these personalized Siri Suggestions on your iPhone's lock screen – just make sure the toggle next to Allow on Lock Screen is also in the green ON position.

You can also enhance Siri's responses by establishing relationships between your familial contacts. Click here to learn how.Note Tips: Top 3 Alternative Sites to TamilDbox 2019

Survey Finds iPhone XR Remained Best-Selling iPhone Model Last Quarter in United States

iPhone XR remained the best-selling iPhone model in the United States in the first quarter of 2019, as it was in the fourth quarter of 2018, according to a survey conducted by research firm CIRP and provided to MacRumors.

The research firm found that the iPhone XR accounted for 38 percent of U.S. iPhone sales during the quarter, ahead of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max with a combined 21 percent of sales during the three-month period.

If accurate, the data is rather unsurprising, as the iPhone XR has the lowest price of the three new iPhones that Apple released in late 2018. The colorful handset starts at $749, compared to $999 for the iPhone XS and $1,099 for the iPhone XS Max, with many reviews labeling it the "best iPhone for the money."

Moreover, in January, Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the iPhone XR was the most popular iPhone every day since it launched.

CIRP co-founder Josh Lowitz:

iPhone XR continues to dominate US iPhone sales. It remains the best-selling individual model again this quarter, after launch early in the December 2018 quarter. In the US, the newest iPhone models sold about as well as the newest models a year ago, at about 60% of total sales. Based on these trends, we estimate an Average Selling Price of around $800, a decrease from the previous quarter.

The usual caveats apply, including that Apple no longer discloses iPhone unit sales, nor has it ever provided a model-by-model breakdown of iPhone sales. CIRP bases its findings on a rather small survey of 500 customers.Sponsor ads:

How to Listen to Apple Music on the Web

Apple still doesn't offer an official online web player for Apple Music, but if you want to enjoy the streaming service on a computer that doesn't have iTunes installed (your office PC, for example) there is another solution.

It's called "Musish," a free third-party web player for Apple Music subscribers, created by software engineer Brychan Bennett-Odlum and his team, Raphaël Vigée, James Jarvis, and Filip Grebowski.

To play Apple Music on the web through Musish, you need to sign in using your Apple ID. If you're concerned about account security, don't be -– sign-in is handled in a separate window under the Apple.com domain and Musish doesn't request, log, or gain access to user information.

Once you've signed in, you'll see the usual Apple Music tabs on the upper left corner of the Musish interface: For You, Browse, Radio, and My Library. Bear in mind, though, that some categories are slimmed down compared to what you'll find in the native iOS Music app or iTunes. Kuo: 2019 iPhones to Feature 12MP Front Cameras, Special Black Coating to Hide Lenses, and More

All three 2019 iPhones will feature 12-megapixel single-lens front cameras, up from 7-megapixels on the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, according to the latest research note from well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The note, obtained by MacRumors, adds that the next iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max models with 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED displays respectively will also feature triple-lens rear cameras, including a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a 12-megapixel super-wide-angle lens supplied by Sony:

We forecast the camera upgrade will be one of the new 2H19 iPhone's major selling points. Critical spec upgrades are as follows. (1) Rear cameras of 6.5-inch OLED, 5.8-inch OLED, and 6.1-inch LCD will likely upgrade to triple-camera and dual-camera, respectively. A super-wide camera will be newly adopted by the triple-camera system, which is equipped with the 12MP/1um CIS provided exclusively by Sony. (2) The front camera of all three new iPhone models will likely upgrade to 12MP CIS+5P lens (vs. current 7MP CIS+4P lens).

Kuo believes the next iPhone XR with a 6.1-inch LCD display will sport a dual-lens rear camera, as the WSJ previously reported, although he did not provide megapixels or any other camera specifications for that model. The rear camera on the current iPhone XR is a single 12-megapixel wide-angle lens.

Kuo says the rear super-wide-angle lens and front camera lens on the next iPhone XSand iPhone XS Max will adopt "black lens-coating technologies," which will make the lenses look "inconspicuous," as hinted at previously.

The rumored triple-lens camera design for the next iPhones has proved quite controversial, but the special coating should help the far-right lens blend into the black bezels for a more aesthetically pleasing look.

The triple-lens camera design was first leaked by OnLeaks:

A chart from the research note:

Kuo says the new iPhones will be introduced in the second half of 2019. This is no surprise, as Apple has unveiled new iPhones in September every year since 2012. Last year, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max became available to order on September 14, followed by the iPhone XR on October 19.Gihosoft RePicvid Free Photo Recovery Software provides a free photo recovery software for windows to help users recover the deleted or lost photo for free.

iPad Air (2019) Teardown Confirms 3GB RAM, Many Similarities to 10.5-Inch iPad Pro

Following the teardown of the iPad mini 5, the iFixit team has gone ahead and posted its teardown of the 10.5-inch iPad Air (2019). The teardown confirms the new iPad Air comes with 3GB RAM and despite not sharing the same name, it is internally very similar to the 10.5-inch iPad Pro.

Unlike previous iPad Air models, the iPad Air 3 features a central logic board similar to the iPad Pro. It also features a dual-cell battery design as seen on the 10.5-inch iPad Pro and unlike previous Airs. The battery capacity also sees a slight bump to 30.2 Wh compared to 27.6 Wh found on the iPad Air 2.

If you ever plan on opening your iPad Air 3, you should disconnect the battery as soon as possible to protect your device as well as yourself. The battery’s connector is located below the logic board. There are no pull tabs for the battery which means replacing them is going to be a tough job. That’s the same story as the iPad mini 5 and previous iPads.

Most of the chips inside the iPad Air 3 are similar to the ones found on the 10.5-inch iPad Pro. In place of the additional speakers though, Apple has put a large metal bracket with two posts for further supporting the display and holding the additional LTE antennas.

Just like the iPad mini 5, the iPad Air 3 receives a dismal repairability score of 2 out of 10. While one can use a single Phillips screwdriver to open all the screws inside the device, the excessive use of adhesive and lack of pull tabs mean common repairs like display and battery replacement are extremely tough. Similarly, while most components inside are modular in nature, the Lightning connector itself is soldered to the logic board which means replacing it is going to be an expensive affair.

Many Pilots of the Grounded Boeing 737 Max Were Trained on an iPad

Last week was quite a roller coaster for the airline industry across the globe. Following an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Max crash which killed all 157 passengers and crew members onboard, airlines around the world went ahead and grounded the plane citing safety issues. Now, while the investigation behind the crash is still ongoing, it has revealed some startling truth. Since the Boeing 737 Max is similar to the Boeing 737 itself, many pilots learned how to fly the plane on an iPad instead of a proper simulator.

Usually, when a new airplane goes into service, pilots undergo extensive training to get familiar with its software and how to fly it. This includes training on simulators that mimic the experience of flying the plane in the air. However, as the NYTimes report highlights, for the Boeing 737 Max, pilots who had prior experience flying a Boeing 737 learned about it on an iPad.

One key reason behind the lack of simulators for the 737 Max was that Boeing was still working on finalizing the engineering data of the plane right until it was nearing completion. Without the required engineering data, it was not possible to build a simulator for the Boeing 737 Max. Even now, months after the Boeing 737 Max went into service, there’s only one simulator designed for the plane available in the United States.

When United was set to take delivery of the 737 Max in 2017, a group of pilots put together training materials without ever flying the aircraft or a full simulator. James LaRosa, a 737 captain and union official who helped lead the training group, said he flew to a Boeing training center in Seattle to learn about the new plane on a mock cockpit that didn’t move like typical simulators.

In addition to a two-hour iPad training course from Boeing, he and colleagues used their experience in the cockpit to create a 13-page handbook on the differences between the Max and its predecessor, including changes to displays and the engines.

Like Boeing, the F.A.A. also believed that due to the similarities between the Boeing 737 and 737 Max, pilots flying the latter were not needed to go through additional simulator training. This has raised questions about many pilots not properly ready for the new software on the Boeing 737 Max which can be one of the reasons behind the crash.

The iPad material course did not talk about the new MCAS software in the Boeing 737 Max which has become a key talking point after the Lion Air crash.

Despite the F.A.A not requiring additional simulator training for the Boeing 737 Max, many airlines have gone ahead and ordered simulators for the plane. However, most of them are only going to receive their simulators by the end of this year, while others are looking at a waiting period lasting until 2020.
